  • Week 1 - Dinosaur Roar

    Monday 2nd August & Tuesday 3rd August

    9:30 - 11am

    Explore the wonderful world of dinosaurs, where children are able to explore opposites in this fantastic rhyming book. ‘Dinosaur fast, dinosaur slow, dinosaur above, dinosaur below’. Children will learn all about the different dinosaurs, their characteristics and how they lived in this fun filled school starters programme.

    Playing, laughing and learning! We take a favourite children’s book, some fun ideas for play, a dash of technology and weave in the learning!

  • Week 2 - How to catch a star

    Tuesday 10th August & Wednesday 11th August

    9:30 - 11am

    There once was a boy, and the boy loved stars very much…

    This beautiful story follows a little boy who embarks on a mission to catch a star and keep one forever. This school starters session follows him on his journey to find a friend, and takes your child on their own very own star-finding mission through reading, phonics, movement and so much more.

  • Week 3 - Rainbow fish

    Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th August

    9:30 - 11am

    These school starters sessions explore the wonders of the ocean through the eyes of Rainbow Fish. Rainbow Fish doesn't want to share his beautiful shiny scales, but soon learns that sharing nicely leads to friendship.

    This course has a gentle focus on inter-personal social skills and confidence for those starting school. Intertwined with robotics, science, investigation and heuristic play this fishy session is a great way to sign off our school starters programme.

School Starters Sessions

Brief:

 

Playing, laughing and learning. That’s how our School Starters program works. We take a favourite children’s book, some fun ideas for play, a dash of technology and weave in the learning.

Specifically designed to build the confidence and skills needed for starting school in a COVID-19 friendly environment. Perfect to re-socialise children after lockdown or to gently introduce a little more structure into their day-to-day life. In our two day courses your child will practise many of the skills they need to conquer school in September.

Suitable for:

 

Ages 3-5

Suitable for children who are starting school in September, or for children currently in Reception who might want a little extra support over the summer.

Course Overview:

 

Each week, our school starters programme takes a favourite book and works in a little magic; some robots, science, music, art, dance and fun.

Each course is in line with the EYFS curriculum. It has been specifically designed to equip children with the skills they need for school in a fun and stimulating environment. Lead by fully qualified, experienced teachers, each session will be based around a story and will support children to develop and enhance the following skills:

  • Listening Skills

  • Phonics including sounds, letter recognition and letter formation

  • Number recognition and games

  • Creativity

  • Mark Making

  • Dance/Music

  • Fine and Gross motor Skills

  • Small World

  • Discovery
