Our Reception and KS1 half-day workshops are designed by our EYFS specialist to introduce the idea of encryption and coding through a series of fun challenges.

From choreographing a secret dance to delivering messages using our fantastic little KUBO robots, this session will provide the opportunity for children to collaborate, communicate and create through code.

Full Day Workshop

From ancient Scytale to wartime Enigma and modern day Cyber Encryption; this exciting and engaging encryption workshop looks at the history and purpose of encryption and secret messages before embarking on a robotics challenge to send your own secret code across the classroom.

With two distinct halves, this session is a complete journey through the story of encryption.

PART 1 - Morning

What’s your secret?

A fun and practical look at the history of encryption. Join us as we make a Scytale and Cypher wheel to write our own secret messages.

PART 2 - Afternoon

Robots, Codes and Signals

Using your very own secret code, can you build, modify and program your robots to deliver a message to a team mate stuck on the other side of the room?

Half Day or Full Day (including law and ethics)

The ethics of autonomous automation. This fantastic workshop covers the design and build of a self-driving car using our LEGO Education Spike Prime robots.

Students will work to design and modify their vehicles to make them as safe as possible whilst we discuss and consider the ethical implications that go alongside automated vehicles. We will also consider the ethical concerns that influence decisions at GCHQ and the safety of our online presence.

Half-day or Full Day

A practical and hands-on approach to cyber security the Keep It Safe!

Workshop guides pupils through a LEGO Safe design and build. We then encode various levels of security into our safes with the aim of exploring conditional codes and digital security.

For more advanced computing groups, compound conditional coding can be added on to the code.
