Book your Faraday Challenge Day
Welcome to the faraday challenge season 2024-2025.
As the regional delivery partners for North Cornwall and Devon we’re thrilled to welcome schools, colleges and host organisations back for the next season of the Faraday Challenge.
We have capacity for 15 events this year.
Just a reminder that there are 3 ways to take part in the challenge:
Option A: host one of our Challenge Leader-led IET Faraday® Challenge Days at your school with the option to invite teams from up to five other local schools.
Option B: apply to be an invited school and take one team from your school along to another local event.
Option C: host one of our Challenge Leader-led IET Faraday® Challenge Days at your Organisation/University and invite teams from up to six local schools.
Or
Option D: host a DIY challenge day in your school yourself.
If you’re looking to host an event (Options A or C) then please book in a date on the booking form.
If you’d like to attend a local school event with a team, please just let us know and we can enquire at your nearest event.

The IET Faraday® Challenge Days are cross-curricular activity days covering Science, Design and Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). They are held at schools, organisations and universities around the UK and have proved to be enormously popular with teachers and students alike. It is through the charitable arm of the IET that we are able to provide the IET Faraday® Challenge Days at no charge to UK schools.
The IET Faraday® Challenge Days give students the opportunity to research, design and make solutions to real-life engineering problems. The event is set up and run by our team of STEM professionals to give you the time to focus on your students. It is an unbeatable opportunity to switch your students on to the subject you love.
The winners of each IET Faraday® Challenge Day will win a trophy for their school and gain a place on the national league table. The top teams from across the UK will get to go through to the National Final at the end of the season to compete for a cash prize of up to £1,000 for their school to spend on STEM activities.

We welcome universities, 6th form colleges and businesses to consider hosting a Faraday Challenge day to showcase further education and employment opportunities in their local areas.
Schools are also invited to host a challenge day; this can be for 36 of their own students or they can invite other schools to attend.

The Faraday Challenge is a team event. Teams should be made up of six students aged 12-13 years old (England and Wales Year 8). Please note that each school can only take place once per season.
There is a maximum of 36 students able to take part in each event.
We would like the students selected to be identified as those who have made the greatest progress over the last few months or those who you consider would benefit the most from this opportunity.
